I
am a stranger on the earth. My home is in another place and I long to live
there, for it is a much better country. The earth is real, yes, but the place
where I belong is MORE real. In comparison, earth is only a shadow. Because
of this, my goals and plans on earth are driven by the knowledge of where my
true citizenship lies. My King actually created this planet, but long ago men
rebelled against Him and corrupted the natural order that was on earth. My
King was greatly grieved by this, but in His great love for this planet and
its people He devised a plan to restore the earth and its creatures to the
glory they were created to have. To accomplish this, He sent his Son to earth
as a human being to overcome rebellion and death. When He came, He did many
great things on the earth, healing the sick and teaching the way of truth,
telling men to turn away from all their wicked deeds. Many gathered around
Him, but there were proud men in authority who refused to listen to Him and
had Him put to death. But this Son had been sent for that very purpose, for
after they killed Him, three days later He arose from the grave victorious
over rebellion and death once and for all. By doing this, He freed all those
who repent of their evil and trust Him as their King from the bondage to
decay in which the whole earth is entrapped. I now live in the freedom that
my King has won for me, but there is more! Before my King left to return to
His own country, He promised that He would come back again to judge every
creature and to save all those who have turned from evil to follow His rule.
At this time He will free the whole planet from its bondage and bring us to
our proper home, where my King lives! I can't wait to go home! But until then
I have a mission to proclaim the freedom and salvation that the Creator of
our planet is offering to mankind. True happiness will not be found here on
earth. That's why I live as a stranger here.
